Life Skills Unit

Group 5G have started a Life Skills Unit where they will explore adulthood!! Each student has picked a professional and a minimum wage job to compare the kinds of choices they will have to make in terms of finding a place to live, transportation, picking roommates, as well as familiarizing themselves with all of the associated issues that go with them. We will be using the Sunday Boston Globe to hunt for apartments/houses, to find vehicles, and to find bargains. Our Business Manager, Ron Sweet will be talking with them about payroll deductions. Students will use checks and their bank accounts to pay bills, and a spread sheet to track expenditures. Students' professional/minimum wage jobs are: Max- Financial Manager/short-order cook; Nick- Real estate agent/construction laborer; Bailey- Lawyer/cashier; Maya - Family Practitioner (MD)/amusement park worker; Eleanor - Occupational Therapist/Janitor; Alexandra - Registered Nurse/house painter; Riale - Pharmacist/painter's helper; Richard - Multimedia artist and animator; lifeguard or ski patrol; Allie - Computer software engineer (Apps.)/gas station attendant; Will- Biochemist/waiter.
